ARTIST STATEMENT:

Carmen Gutiérrez-Bolger is a Cuban-born painter working in Northeast Minneapolis. Carmen’s abstractions are inspired by photographs taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. She paints images of the heavens because she sees a reflection of all life in the cosmos. “With my art I explore my various and sometimes competing cultural perspectives – it helps me to feel connected.”

Carmen is currently exploring mixed-media and installation and is continuing to use her art to further her process of self identification and self realization.
